15 years of service—and a new production challenge

Our first-generation ultrasonic plastic welding equipment has been operating reliably at this customer’s factory for 15 years and remains in service. That long relationship brought us back to the production floor when the customer secured a new order to make housings with insect mesh for a German router company.

The existing tooling could not meet the new part requirements. The challenge was to adapt the welding setup to this specific housing and mesh application, while continuing to work with the customer’s existing equipment.

A custom ultrasonic horn for the new housing

MCSONIC developed custom ultrasonic horn tooling specifically for the new order. The work focused on the customer’s part and its production needs, rather than treating a new application as a simple tooling swap.

For a similar project, start with our custom ultrasonic horns and use the horn quotation checklist to prepare part drawings, samples and details of the existing ultrasonic system.

One day on site: adjustment, trials and validation

With the new tooling ready, we visited the customer’s factory for commissioning and acceptance work. Over the course of a day, our team and the customer repeatedly adjusted and verified the setup against the new application requirements. The resulting solution addressed the production challenge that the previous tooling could not resolve.

This visit was another step in a long partnership: keep listening to the customer, work through the practical problem together, and make the solution work where production actually happens.

Built on long-term cooperation. Ready for the next challenge.

Solving the customer’s practical production problems is at the heart of our work. For MCSONIC, service continues beyond equipment delivery: as products change and new orders arrive, we help customers evaluate the next application and develop the tooling it needs.

Rooted in China and serving customers globally, we believe technology connects more than parts—it connects people working toward a shared result. Lasting progress comes from moving forward together.

Questions for a similar project

Can existing equipment support a new housing design?

In this case, custom tooling and on-site commissioning enabled the existing machine to meet the new application needs. Other projects need an individual review of the equipment, parts and process requirements; this case does not establish a universal service life or compatibility claim.

What should I send for a tooling evaluation?

Send housing and mesh drawings or samples, material details, existing machine and ultrasonic system specifications, and your acceptance requirements. Our equipment selection guide explains the starting points for an engineering discussion.
